On January 19th<\/sup>, 2018, the Spokesperson of the European External Action Service, Maya Kosanich, made a statement on the situation with human rights on the Crimean peninsula on behalf of the Foreign Policy Office of the European Union. The statement condemns the “verdict” of the occupying authority to the opponent of the illegal annexation of Crimea, Volodymyr Baluch and detention of the Crimean Tatar activist Bekir Deghermenjee by the occupants, and demands the immediate provision of necessary medical aid to the activist.<\/p>\n

In the statement of the European External Action Service, the EU requires from aggressor state to provide a full, free and unhindered access to the peninsula for the international Human Rights observers, and expects the release of all illegally imprisoned citizens of Ukraine on the illegally annexed Crimea as soon as possible. In this statement the EU repeatedly confirms the maximum application of the policy of the Union regarding the non-recognition of illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol.<\/p>\n
