March 12, Head of the Ukrainian State during conversation with journalists after the negotiations with Vice-President of the European Commission, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini stresses that Ukraine has not recognized and will never recognize the Russian presidential elections in its territories illegally occupied by Russia. Ukraine calls for sanctions against those involved in the organization of this process.<\/p>\n
“In the context of the Russian presidential elections next Sunday, I clearly stated that Ukraine does not recognize the fake presidential elections in the temporarily occupied territories, because even there Russians are going to hold the so-called voting. We are confident that sanctions must be imposed against those who are involved in organizing the illegal election process,” the Head of State said.<\/p>\n
The Head of State also noted that the issue of reacting to the fake Russian presidential elections in Crimea and Sevastopol was actively discussed during today’s meeting with Federica Mogherini.<\/p>\n
“I called for the similar actions of the EU in response to the illegal so-called elections. In addition, in the context of the ongoing campaign by Russia aimed to spread misinformation, hacking attacks, interference in the election processes aimed against the democratic free world, including the EU and Ukraine, we have agreed to strengthen our cooperation in combating cyber threats and fake news” Petro Poroshenko said.
