President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid arrived with an official visit to Ukraine. During her visit President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko noted the Estonian principled position from the first days of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, demonstrated in the EU Council, supported Ukraine in the international organizations, particularly in UNO. \u201c Estonia was a co-author and supported all the resolutions concerning Crimea and Russian aggression\u201d \u2013 he stressed.<\/p>\n
The Estonian President stressed that the illegal annexation of Crimea and Russian occupation in the east of Ukraine should be terminated and the situation should be brought back into the framework of international law. At the same time, she says that the Russian aggression against Ukraine is a humanitarian challenge for the whole of Europe.<\/p>\n
“I also want to thank Estonian non-governmental organizations that help Ukrainians in Crimea and eastern Ukraine,” Kersti Kaljulaid said. She noted that due to many Estonian non-governmental organizations it was possible to understand the situation in Ukraine from the very beginning of the aggression in 2014.<\/p>\n
“I want to emphasize officially – there are no international negotiations either with our European partners, or our American partners in which we wouldn\u2019t have touched upon the necessity of immediate liberation of Ukrainian hostages illegally kept in the occupied territories and political prisoners kept in prisons in the territory of the occupied Crimea and in the territory of Russia,\u201d President Petro Poroshenko said during the joint press conference with the President of Estonia answering the question about Ukraine\u2019s actions to liberate political prisoners in Russia.<\/p>\n
The Head of State noted that the given issue had also been discussed during the meeting with President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid and actions had been coordinated. “The release of hostages is an integral part of the Minsk agreements, where Russia has undertaken direct obligations to liberate hostages. It is about Sushchenko, Sentsov, Kolchenko and many others, about Crimean Tatars, Ukrainian service men.
