On April 1, in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, the Russian Federation has launched yet another conscription campaign. At the same time, most of our citizens will be sent outside the peninsula to the military units of the South and other military districts of the occupying state.<\/span><\/p>\n

There is more and more information about the so-called \u201cmilitary commissars\u201d actively promoting the service in the armed forces of the Russian Federation.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

We emphasize that such actions of the representatives of the occupying state are a systemic war crime, and the fact that conscription takes place during a pandemic – puts the lives and health of people at even greater risk.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is another<\/span> violation of international humanitarian law. The Russian Federation is bound by international law, and obliged to ensure the protection of human rights on the peninsula.<\/span><\/p>\n

The illegal conscription campaign of the Russian Federation in Crimea and the criminal prosecution of our citizens for evading conscription were condemned by the international community, in particular in the resolutions of the UN General Assembly of December 18, 2019 and December 16, 2020 \u201cSituation of human rights in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Ukraine\u201d. <\/span>https:\/\/undocs.org\/en\/A\/RES\/74\/168<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

At the same time, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol are investigating these crimes, and together with human rights organizations collect and send to the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court information about Russian war crimes in Crimea, including forced conscription into the occupying power.<\/span><\/p>\n

We appeal to the citizens of Ukraine who are forced to serve in the armed forces of the occupying state to report the facts of illegal conscription. The collected evidence will help protect our citizens who are victims of war crimes, as well as bring to justice those responsible for organizing illegal conscription in Crimea.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n
