On February 31, in media there were reports about an incorrect image of the map of Ukraine, in particular without the temporarily occupied Crimea, in textbooks \u201cHistory of Ukraine\u201d for 9 grade of the general secondary education (author Strukevich A.K.) and \u201cHistory of Ukraine (standard level)\u201d for 10 grade of the general secondary education (author A. Strukevich), by the publishing house: \u201cGramota\u201d, 2017 and 2018, respectively.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The mission immediately appealed to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine to take measures. The position of the Mission is absolutely clear – there must be no images of Ukraine without the temporarily occupied territories, especially in textbooks for children. Ukrainian children must understand and realize that Crimea is an occupied territory and maintained militarily by the Russian Federation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Today the Mission received a response from the State Scientific Institution \u201cInstitute of Education Content Modernization\u201d, according to which the competent state authorities have taken appropriate measures to respond to the detected situation. The publishing house \u201cGramota\u201d revised the image of the map of Ukraine and prepared the replacement of electronic versions of textbooks for placement in the electronic library of the Institute. The publishing house has also prepared a corresponding revision for the printed versions of the above-mentioned textbooks. New samples of symbols for insertion will be printed in circulation in accordance with the circulation of textbooks for 9 and 10 grades and sent to the departments of education and science of the regions.<\/span><\/p>\n

We appeal to citizens to inform the Mission about any cases of incorrect depiction of the state borders of Ukraine, in particular without the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, or illegal depiction of the Crimean peninsula within the borders of other states. The Mission will respond to relevant cases and facilitate their elimination as soon as possible.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
