Today, the first public guided tour of the QIRIM \u0130\u00c7\u00dcN \/ FOR CRIMEA exhibition was held at the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, led by the curator of the exhibition, psychologist, and journalist Mavile Khalil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participants of the tour had the opportunity to get acquainted with the thematic and excursion materials, which present the tragic event of the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people as a part of the general history of Ukraine. The overcoming of the genocide was also on display, as was the Ukrainian people’s current quest for decolonization. In particular, the guests of the exhibition visited the halls with the works of the artist Anton Logov, Crimean Tatar artists, Crimean Tatar ceramist Rustem Skybin, and paintings of Sadykh Adzhy-Selim \u2014 the only documentary visual works created during the deportation. Tour participants were also introduced to the deportation diary Butterflies of Paradise, based on real stories of deportation survivors, and saw an installation dedicated to the current Russian-Ukrainian war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official opening ceremony of the exhibition was held on May 17, the eve of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Crimean Tatar Genocide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The art project QIRIM \u0130\u00c7\u00dcN \/ FOR CRIMEA is a journey into the complex, multi-layered history of the Crimean Tatars, one of the indigenous peoples of Ukraine, full of struggles, victories, and losses. It was created to draw parallels between contemporary events and those that preceded the deportation of the Crimean Tatars from the Crimean peninsula in 1944.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
