It is estimated that 90 pieces of equipment were destroyed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6 The occupation &#8220;court&#8221; refused to release Crimean Muslim Amet Suleimanov from Bakhchysarai, who was sentenced to 12 years in prison. The sentence was upheld even though Amet suffers from two illnesses that are included in the list of those incompatible with the conditions of imprisonment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Crime dynamics under the occupation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aggressor country continues to use Russian legislation as an instrument of pressure on the population of Crimea, and the law enforcement and judicial system as a lever of enforcement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6 As of July 8, the occupiers have illegally detained 217 people, including 132 Crimean Tatars. Of the total number, 39 have been arrested (28 of them are Crimean Tatars) and 149 have been imprisoned (97 of them are Crimean Tatars).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6 As of mid-July, 847 cases of materials under the article &#8220;Discrediting the Russian Army&#8221; have been submitted to the so-called &#8220;courts&#8221; in temporarily occupied Crimea. In June, the occupiers illegally prosecuted at least 22 people for pro-Ukrainian statements and activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6 The occupation &#8220;court&#8221; convicted in absentia a Crimean resident who joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in February 2022 under the article on &#8220;high treason&#8221;. He was put on the international wanted list and sentenced to 16 years in a high-security penal colony.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6&nbsp; The occupiers transport stolen Ukrainian wheat from Sevastopol to sell it in Venezuela. In April, the Russian Northern Merchant Navy ship Enisey arrived in occupied Sevastopol from Arkhangelsk. Within a week, the occupiers loaded the ship with 27 thousand tons of wheat taken from Melitopol. The wheat was then transferred from the Enisey to a steamer near the Kavkaz Port. From there, the ship sailed across the Bosphorus to its destination, Port Venezuela.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6 The Russian army has intensified the tactic of covering its groups with civilians in Crimea. Due to the effective actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Crimea, the enemy is committing cynical crimes &#8211; placing military facilities near civilian areas in order to deter Ukrainian attacks. The aggressor country systematically violates the rules of international humanitarian law, according to which military commanders must avoid placing military objectives in or near densely populated areas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Militarization of the Crimean Peninsula (tendencies, comparison of militarization, situation)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6 Throughout the week, the occupiers continued to train &#8220;anti-submarine sabotage defense&#8221; units by firing from various types of small arms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6 After the hits caused by the Russian air defense, there has been a decline in bookings in the Sevastopol area, with the overall demand for travel to Crimea falling by 25-30%. However, most tourists are only changing their reservations from Sevastopol to Yalta, Alushta, Gaspra, and Sudak, as they believe it is safer there.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6Activists of the ATESH resistance movement discovered an underground service station for the occupiers&#8217; equipment in Sevastopol, the location of a large number of weapons, military equipment, the S-400 system, and a radar station on Cape Fiolent. ATESH also recorded the location of the S-300\/400 system on Murun Q\u0131r Mountain (Lashkivska Mountain), east of Simferopol.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Propaganda of the occupation administrations and incitement to hostility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6 The occupiers claimed that 2 million tourists visited Crimea in the first half of 2024. As part of the military operations, Russia was supposed to reduce the intensity of the tourist flow to Crimea. Instead, the occupiers &#8220;informed&#8221; people that tourists were not in danger and that the situation on the peninsula was &#8220;quite safe&#8221;. Such actions of the occupation administration indicate the concealment of the fact of war and are a crime against humanity.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6 The British newspaper <em>The Sunday Times<\/em> has published an article about the activities of the pro-Russian organization the Crimean Smerch in Crimea. It is about the case when the occupiers found a photo of two Crimeans who went on vacation to Germany. In the photo, the brothers are holding Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar flags at the UEFA European Championship. In the post, Crimean Smerch wrote that one of the flags was a symbol of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, a &#8220;terrorist group&#8221; banned in Russia. Smerch then addressed the brothers with a threat: &#8220;We will be watching your homes when you return.&#8221; The Crimean Smerch is dedicated to tracking down, humiliating, and punishing Ukrainians suspected of anti-Russian stance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&nbsp;The situation in the Black Sea basin<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the reasons for the occupation of Crimea in 2014 was the aggressor country&#8217;s ambition to dominate the Black Sea, and the Kremlin was ready to suffer any losses to maintain this dominance. However, it turned out to be ephemeral and dissipated with the beginning of the full-scale invasion. It is noteworthy that Russia entered into a confrontation with a country that actually had no navy. Now Russia has no navy, only a flotilla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6 Sea Baby maritime drones have laid more than 15 underwater mines near Crimean waters on routes exclusively used by Russian warships. At least four Russian ships have been damaged by Sea Baby remotely piloted drone mines during the year. In particular, the Russian missile ship Samum, the Russian patrol ship Pavel Derzhavin, and the newest reconnaissance and hydrographic ship Vladimir Kozitsky were hit by mines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6 Turkey, Bulgaria, and Romania have begun a joint demining effort in the Black Sea. The work is aimed at removing mines that have drifted in some areas of the Black Sea as a result of the war. The goal is to improve the safety of shipping, particularly grain exports from Ukraine. The initiative is the first major joint action by Black Sea countries since Russia&#8217;s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. To implement it, the countries plan to create a joint fleet that will neutralize mines off the coasts of the aforementioned countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Civil resistance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the main tools of an authoritarian regime is the restriction of freedom of speech in the subordinated territories. According to the Russian ideology of civilizational exclusivity, the refusal of people to identify themselves as Russian citizens is quite sensitive for the aggressor country. Those who disagree with the Russian vector of development are forced by the occupiers to adhere to it by means of law enforcement and judicial power:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6 A retiree from Alushta was asked at the checkout how he would like to pay, and he replied: &#8220;Cash. We live in Ukraine, not in Russia. (in Ukrainian) In response to the shopkeeper&#8217;s indignation and the phrase &#8220;We live in Russia,&#8221; the pensioner said: &#8220;You have been bribed, and we will wait.&#8221; The man was detained for 15 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6 A resident of Sevastopol wrote comments on one of the telegram channels from his account, calling for violent actions against the occupiers. The 30-year-old man was illegally sentenced to 1.5 years in prison with the deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to the administration of sites and channels on the Internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6 A resident of the village of Soniachna Dolyna, the Sudak region, expressed on her social media waiting for the liberation of Crimea, supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and wishing for Ukraine&#8217;s victory. The occupiers drew up an administrative &#8220;protocol&#8221; to allegedly &#8220;discredit the Russian Armed Forces&#8221; and sent the materials to the &#8220;court&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6&nbsp; A resident of the Saky district spoke negatively about the Russian army and said he wanted to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The occupiers illegally detained the man and forced him to apologize. An administrative report was drawn up against him and an illegal fine of 50 thousand rubles was imposed on him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25b6 As part of the flash mob, &#8220;This is Ukraine,&#8221; activists of the Yellow Ribbon movement raised the Ukrainian flag on the Canakai Q\u0131r Cliffs in Simferopol, also known as the Petrivski Cliffs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Mission continues to receive inquiries from Ukrainian citizens who want to leave Crimea because they cannot tolerate the occupation and total propaganda.
