Today, the meeting to discuss key approaches to the principles and procedures for conducting inspections of persons who collaborated with the aggressor state was held at the Missions Office. The event was attended by Permanent Representative Tamila Tasheva, Deputy Permanent Representatives Olha Kuryshko and Denys Chystikov. In addition, the meeting was attended by the members of the Expert Council of the Mission and the working groups of the Crimea Platform Expert Network.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting started with an opening speech delivered by Permanent Representative Tamila Tasheva, who outlined the main achievements of the Mission in cooperation with partners in the field of prosecution of perpetrators. She also emphasized the need to review and discuss the principles and concepts of accountability in the de-occupied territories. In particular, the Permanent Representative emphasized that the state is not going to prosecute everyone just because they live in the occupied territory.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participants of the meeting discussed current developments and concepts, and focused on international and national experience and international standards for organizing and conducting audits as an important element in restoring and protecting the democratic and constitutional principles of public authorities and professional communities critical to the development of society in the liberated territories. Another issue for discussion was the adoption of current and potential practices of such inspections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We thank the participants of the meeting for sharing their views on improving the concept.
