In temporarily occupied Crimea, Yevhen Semenovych Rehushevskyi, former dean of the Faculty of Philology at Tavrida National V.I. Vernadsky University, has passed away at the age of 90. A Ukrainian linguist and educator, he made significant contributions to the development of Ukrainian philology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yevhen Rehushevskyi was born in 1934 in the village of Bdzhilna, Haisyn District, Vinnytsia Region. He graduated from Vinnytsia State Pedagogical University, specializing in Ukrainian language and literature. Over his career, he worked at Rivne Pedagogical Institute, served as dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Primary Education Methods at Berdychiv Pedagogical Institute, and was Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Kirovohrad State Pedagogical Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since 1975, he lived in Crimea, where he worked at Tavrida National V.I. Vernadsky University in Simferopol for nearly 30 years (1975\u20132005). During this time, he held positions as the head of the Department of Ukrainian Linguistics and as dean of the Faculty of Philology. He was awarded the title of Professor in 1991 and served as a professor in the Department of Interlingual Communication and Journalism starting in 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He authored over 200 scientific and methodological works, including notable publications such as The Dictionary of Literary Terms by Ivan Franko <\/em>(1966, co-authored), A Short Dictionary of Periphrases<\/em> (1985, co-authored), The Dictionary of Phraseological Synonyms <\/em>(1988, co-authored), Introduction to Linguoculturology <\/em>\u00a0(2003), A Brief Comparative Analysis of Noun Forms in East Slavic Languages <\/em>(2005), and Crimean Tatar Male Names and Patronymics (Crimean Tatar\u2013Ukrainian Orthographic Dictionary)<\/em> (2005, co-authored).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Under his guidance, eight candidates successfully defended their dissertations.
