The Russian occupation administration sentenced Faizullaiev on\u00a0fabricated charges\u00a0of allegedly setting fire to the village council building in\u00a0Pushkine, Feodosiia district, in temporarily occupied Crimea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to a human rights organization, a correspondent who had been in contact with Faizullaiev through letters reported that in early January, he sent him a letter, which\u00a0Penal Colony No. 2 in Kerch returned\u00a0with the note:\u00a0\u201cReleased.\u201d\u00a0However, his\u00a0current whereabouts remain unknown, and human rights defenders have not provided further details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On\u00a0June 7, 2022, Russian occupation forces\u00a0conducted an illegal search\u00a0of\u00a0Aziz Faizullaiev\u2019s\u00a0home, after which he was\u00a0detained and taken to a pre-trial detention center. Shortly after, occupation media published a video in which Faizullaiev allegedly gave a\u00a0&#8220;sincere confession,&#8221; claiming he had\u00a0made two Molotov cocktails\u00a0and\u00a0set fire\u00a0to the building of the occupation-controlled\u00a0Pushkine Village Council\u00a0after breaking a window. On\u00a0October 26, the\u00a0occupation &#8220;court&#8221; in Ichki\u00a0sentenced him to\u00a0three years in prison\u00a0in a politically motivated case. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Human rights organizations and the international community repeatedly condemned his prosecution as\u00a0politically motivated\u00a0and a\u00a0violation of human rights.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aziz Faizullaiev\u2019s release was made possible through the\u00a0joint efforts\u00a0of\u00a0Ukrainian authorities, human rights organizations, and the international community.
