The Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Olha Kuryshko, held a working meeting with H.E. Mr. Martin \u00c5berg, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Ukraine. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Department of the Crimea Platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the discussion, the Permanent Representative expressed gratitude to Sweden for its multifaceted support of Ukraine and thanked the Ambassador for Sweden\u2019s participation in the Crimea Platform Summits and other events organized by the Mission.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the context of the ongoing challenges in the temporarily occupied peninsula, Olha Kuryshko drew attention to the undisclosed and often concealed persecution of Ukrainian citizens residing in occupied Crimea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mission’s team provided an overview of the Russian Federation\u2019s systemic discriminatory policies targeting the Crimean Tatar people, the restrictions on religious freedom, ongoing violations of human rights in detention facilities, as well as the use of Crimea as a hub for militarization and the unlawful transfer of children. Particular emphasis was placed on the deteriorating environmental situation in Crimea and the negative impact of the occupying authorities\u2019 actions on the Black Sea ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting also included a discussion of current plans and upcoming initiatives within the framework of the Crimea Platform Office, as well as the activities and core focus areas of the Global Coalition for Ukrainian Studies\u2014an initiative launched by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
