On 29 June, during a plenary session in Porto, Portugal, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly overwhelmingly adopted the Ukrainian resolution titled “The 50th Anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act: Global Challenges to Peace and Security in the OSCE Region.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The resolution explicitly holds Russia responsible for its armed aggression against Ukraine, widespread violations of international humanitarian law, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and actions bearing the hallmarks of genocide. Particular attention is given to the forced Russification of Ukrainian children in the temporarily occupied territories, identified as part of a broader policy aimed at erasing national identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The resolution explicitly refers to a number of United Nations General Assembly resolutions on Crimea \u2014 specifically, Resolution 68\/262 on the territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as Resolutions 77\/229 and 78\/316 on human rights violations in temporarily occupied Crimea and the militarization of the peninsula. Furthermore, the resolution calls on Russia to ensure freedom of navigation in the Azov-Black Sea region, including the Kerch Strait, in accordance with international maritime law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The resolution condemns the extensive use of hybrid warfare tools against democratic countries, including cyberattacks, disinformation campaigns, pressure on religious communities, energy blackmail, and the use of a “shadow fleet” to circumvent sanctions and finance the war of aggression against Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The document also denounces systematic human rights violations, repression of independent media and civil society, as well as the persecution of Indigenous peoples, particularly the Crimean Tatars in territories occupied by the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The resolution emphasizes the importance of the full and unconditional restoration of Ukraine\u2019s territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, including Crimea and Sevastopol, and calls for increased pressure on Russia until it fully ceases its aggression and all those responsible are held accountable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly once again reaffirmed its strong solidarity with Ukraine and called on participating States to continue their support in all key areas \u2014 military, financial, humanitarian, and environmental. The resolution also includes a demand for the establishment of a special international tribunal to hold accountable those responsible for the crime of aggression, and stipulates that frozen Russian assets must be allocated for Ukraine\u2019s reconstruction.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":74641,"template":"","publication-type":[43],"class_list":["post-74688","press-center","type-press-center","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","publication-type-news"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
