The Fourth Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform will be held on 24 November in Stockholm, Sweden. There, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, together with the Speaker of the Riksdag, Andreas Norl\u00e9n, will host heads of national parliaments and interparliamentary organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year\u2019s Parliamentary Summit aims to inform international partners about the consequences of Russia\u2019s occupation of Crimea, discuss existing regional threats, and develop new approaches to the peninsula\u2019s de-occupation and the protection of citizens\u2019 rights in temporarily occupied territories. Summit participants will also focus on sanctions, as well as the economic and environmental consequences of Russian aggression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cRussia\u2019s aggressive war is a flagrant violation of international law, as well as an attack on democracy and human rights. The world must strengthen its support for Ukraine\u2019s struggle to defend its sovereignty and restore its territorial integrity,\u201d <\/em>emphasized Riksdag Speaker Andreas Norl\u00e9n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Crimea Platform is a new international consultative and coordination format initiated by Ukraine in 2021 to unite the global community for the de-occupation of Crimea, which Russia illegally occupied in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The first Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform took place in 2022 in Croatia. It was attended by 55 delegates from 44 countries and international institutions. In general, representatives of parliaments from all continents participate in the Parliamentary Summits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2023, the Second Parliamentary Summit took place in Prague, bringing together 66 representatives from 51 countries. The Third Parliamentary Summit of the Crimea Platform, held in Latvia in 2024, brought together over 70 delegations, including 36 heads of parliaments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ukraine highly values that international partners have consistently supported the Crimea Platform and its Parliamentary Summits for the fourth consecutive year.
