Later, with his wife and children, he returned to his historical homeland, Crimea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By training, Enver is an agronomist. He was an active member of his community, participating in the organization of religious holidays and supporting compatriots who faced pressure from Russian security forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Behind the Bars<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On June 10, 2019, Enver Omerov was detained. On that day, he was traveling with his daughter, Fatma Ismailova\u2014the wife of political prisoner Rustem Ismailov\u2014to Rostov-on-Don, where a court hearing in his son-in-law&#8217;s case was scheduled. Two years before his arrest, Enver Omerov&#8217;s family had noticed that their house was under surveillance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In January 2020, a Russian &#8220;court&#8221; sentenced Enver to 18 years of imprisonment. He was accused of alleged involvement in the activities of Hizb ut-Tahrir, an organization banned in Russia. The charges were based on recorded conversations in which the individuals involved allegedly discussed religious and socio-political issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Behind the Bars<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enver&#8217;s family has reported that due to his imprisonment, he has lost significant weight, appears exhausted, and is in need of medical attention.
