
Permanent Representative Tamila Tasheva met with Ukrainian diplomat, Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Melnyk. Mr. Melnyk became famous for his activities as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Germany – with his uncompromising position he managed to change the position of many German citizens, media and opinion leaders regarding the perception of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
On November 18, 2022, Andriy Melnyk was appointed Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. He is responsible for the development of relations with the countries of the Americas and the Caribbean, issues of international law and state protocol, and interaction with Ukrainians abroad.
At the meeting the Permanent Representative discussed with the diplomat the prospects of establishing communication with the countries of South and Central America, in particular, possible tools to raise awareness of these countries about the current situation in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
The participants also raised the issue of the need to hold information briefings for diplomatic representatives, national media and experts from Latin American countries.
Particular attention was paid to the importance of Ukraine’s cooperation with the countries of the Global South, and the prospects and main risks in establishing such cooperation were analyzed.
