The Mission held a master class on cooking Crimean Tatar food for foreign diplomats. The event, organized by the Mission jointly with the Embassy of the Republic of Estonia in Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation, was attended by the leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Melnyk, Ombudsman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Lubinets, Head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine
The master class was attended by ambassadors and representatives of the diplomatic missions of Estonia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, France, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Italy, and Canada, Turkey, Cyprus, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Portugal, Norway, Montenegro, the Vatican, India, Brazil, Indonesia, Moldova, Japan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, and South Korea.
In his speech, Ihor Zhovkva once again clearly expressed the President’s position – Crimea will certainly be liberated, most likely by military means, and the national and Crimean Tatar flags will once again fly in all corners of the Ukrainian peninsula.
Mustafa Dzhemilev emphasized that the history of the Crimean Tatar flag has gone through difficult times – under the Soviet regime, one could be imprisoned for the tamga itself: “It was only in the times of independent Ukraine, after the Revolution of Dignity, that this flag became official in our country. Today, as I drove along Khreshchatyk, I saw dozens of flags of the Crimean Tatar people next to the state flag. And I felt such pride and satisfaction that it is difficult to convey. We sincerely believe that the free future of the Crimean Tatar people is possible only as part of the Ukrainian state.”
“Ukraine already has a clear vision of how Crimea will be restored after the Russian occupation: we know what it will look like in economic and humanitarian terms, what kind of people will work there. And we are already working on many such solutions. Therefore, rest assured that Ukraine understands what will happen after the liberation of the territory from the invaders. And we will be able to hold such events on the territory of the already free Crimean peninsula,” said Tamila Tasheva.
Refat Chubarov added that everyone is looking forward to the reunification of Crimea with Ukraine and further integration of the whole country into the European Union.
After the greeting speeches, the Permanent Representative, Ambassador of Estonia to Ukraine Kaimo Kuuks and other ambassadors of the partner countries took part in a master class organized by the Musafir restaurant, where participants cooked yantiks by themselves. Meanwhile, the rest of the guests enjoyed pre-prepared Crimean Tatar dishes.
The Mission expresses its sincere gratitude to the Embassy of Estonia in Ukraine for co-organizing such a warm and atmospheric event. We believe that soon we will be able to invite all diplomats to the same master class in the free Ukrainian Crimea!
