Permanent Representative Tamila Tasheva took part in the discussion as a speaker at the All-Ukrainian Forum “Women’s Leadership in Wartime”, organized by the Kyiv School of Public Administration named after Sergiy Nyzhnyi.
In addition to the Permanent Representative, the speakers were Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Malyar, Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Oksana Zholnovych, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for European Integration Valeria Ionan, Head of the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine Vira Mykhailenko (online), Major General of the Medical Service, Head of the Military Medical Department of the Security Service of Ukraine, Honored Doctor of Ukraine Liudmyla Shuhaley and Head of the Department for Minimization of Corruption Risks in the NACP Sanctions Policy Agiya Zagrebelska.
The discussion was moderated by Mykhailo Bno-Airiian, mentor of international programs at the Kyiv School of International Relations.
At the beginning of her speech, Ms. Tasheva mentioned the women who became the face of resistance on the Crimean peninsula.
“These are women who are waiting for their husbands and fighting for their release. This is Nariman’s wife, Dzhelal Leviz, who is now a public defender and visits her husband every week whenever possible. This is also 25-year-old Leniya Umerova, who did not take an occupation passport, lived in the government-controlled territory of Ukraine during 2014-2022, went to her father’s house on the occupied peninsula when his health deteriorated due to cancer, and was detained by the FSB. This is also Ms. Halyna Dovhopola, a 68-year-old woman who lived in occupied Crimea until her illegal detention. These are also women lawyers who defend political prisoners,” the Permanent Representative noted.
Tamila Tasheva also spoke more about the work of the Mission in the context of a full-scale invasion on reintegration policies for the de-occupied Crimean peninsula. In particular, the Permanent Representative reminded that the formation of a personnel reserve for the liberated territory is already underway.
“The website of the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service has started accepting applications for the reserve of civil servants to work in the de-occupied territories. Currently, the need to form a reserve of teachers and healthcare workers should be met by the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Health, which are already working on technical solutions in this area,” said Ms. Tasheva.
The Mission is grateful to the Kyiv School of Management for organizing and holding such a large-scale All-Ukrainian Forum on important and relevant issues!
