The Mission hosted a meeting within the framework of the Solidarity Visit to Ukraine organized by the Ukrainian Leadership Academy with the support of the Prague Civil Society Center.
As part of the Youth solidarity project, 20 citizens of the European Union arrived in Ukraine. Representatives of various EU civil society organizations came to learn more about Ukraine, experience firsthand how Ukrainians live now, and meet young people and Ukrainian CSOs. All this in order to better understand the context of our country and build new ties, and to become ambassadors of Ukraine upon their return.
The Permanent Representative Tamila Tasheva briefed the guests on the situation in the temporarily occupied Crimea. The participants devoted a significant part of the conversation to the history of the peninsula, in particular to the indigenous Crimean Tatar people.
Tamila Tasheva noted that the Crimean Tatars unequivocally support the Ukrainian state, as history has repeatedly proved that they can live peacefully and freely on their native land only in an independent, sovereign Ukraine.
Special attention at the meeting was paid to the Russian narrative on Crimea and the general perception of the occupied peninsula on the agenda of the partner countries.
The Permanent Representative noted that young people will play a significant role in the restoration of Ukrainian Crimea after de-occupation, due to their undeniable potential.
