Every day, our fellow Ukrainians continue to tirelessly resist the Russian occupation of Crimea, demonstrating their resilience and courage, support for Ukraine, and trust in de-occupation. We continue to inform you about public sentiment among Crimean residents in our regular column #resistance_movement.
- In the occupied Crimea, Idris Suleimanov condemned the war on social media, called the Russian occupation forces fascist, and supported Ukraine. As a result, the occupiers detained him and sent the “case” materials to the occupation “court”. In addition, the man was forced to apologize on camera.
- Derbeniev Yurii, a resident of occupied Feodosiia, spoke out against the war on social media, condemning the occupying country, Russia, and Putin. The so-called Centre for Combating Extremism (“Centre E”) detained the man for voicing his opinion, sent materials to the “court” and forced him to apologize on camera.
- Tetiana Kochetkova, a resident of Dzhankoi which is currently under occupation, along with a man and woman who recorded and shared videos of an airstrike on Dzhankoi airfield on April 17th through social media, have been detained by the Russian occupiers. The occupiers have sent the materials to the “court” and claim to have identified five cameramen in total, out of which three have been arrested.
- Kristina Barbakar, a resident of the occupied city of Sevastopol, was detained by Russian authorities for her statement on social media. In August 2022, she expressed that she did not support the annexation of Crimea by Russia and had enjoyed a wonderful life in Ukraine. She did not participate in the referendum and could not understand why people were leaving. She also expressed her desire to return to Ukraine.
- A resident of the temporarily occupied Crimea, Kateryna Kudriavtseva, left comments criticizing the occupiers in Ukrainian Telegram channels and was waiting for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As a result, the occupiers detained her and sent the materials to the “court”. The woman was forced to apologize on camera.
- Activists of the Yellow Ribbon Movement continue to resist the occupiers in Crimea, destroying copies of propaganda materials and distributing patriotic symbols in the occupied cities on the peninsula. For example, patriotic posters and yellow ribbons have reappeared in Simferopol, Yalta, Alushta, Sevastopol, Yevpatoriia, and other cities of the occupied peninsula.
- The Zla Mavka resistance movement continues to document their activities in diaries and distribute weekly newspapers exposing the occupiers’ crimes.
- Activists of the ATESH movement report that during the celebration of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, the occupiers in the Simferopol district illegally handed out draft notices to the Russian army. Earlier, the Russian invaders said they plan to increase the number of the Russian army by 300 thousand people. Also, ATES agents are conducting massive reconnaissance operations to record the locations of oil depots and other significant military facilities of the occupiers in occupied Sevastopol and Kerch. In addition, activists report that the occupiers have intensified the illegal construction of fortifications in the occupied Crimea after the news of increased international support for Ukraine.
🤬 New illegal administrative proceedings in the occupation courts of Crimea under the article on the so-called “discrediting the Russian Armed Forces” also indicate the growing resistance. As of April 25, 2024, 780 cases based on materials drawn up under Art. 20.3.3 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation by the so-called “courts” in the temporarily occupied Crimea and other competent authorities were recorded. In 680 of these cases, a decision was made to impose an administrative penalty in the form of a fine or to join the case to another case under another article and make a cumulative decision. In 24 cases, the materials are still being examined.🤬
We would like to express our gratitude to every individual who has shown courage and taken a clear civic stance. We believe that Crimea belongs to Ukraine, and we are standing together to regain control of the peninsula as soon as possible. Our primary goal is to ensure that our citizens from the temporarily occupied territories feel secure and protected.
Glory to Ukraine! 💙💛
