At the U.S.-Ukraine Partnership in Education and Science Conference the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies was launched at the Stronger Together event held in Washington, DC. The objective is to consolidate all existing Ukrainian studies initiatives, creating a global network of scholars and students interested in Ukrainian studies. This will facilitate knowledge sharing, resource collaboration, and idea exchange.

At the conference, First Lady Olena Zelenska expressed gratitude to all those in attendance, as well as to the institutions and organizations that have contributed to the dissemination of knowledge about Ukraine.

“Fifty years ago Harvard University’s Ukrainian Research Institute became the first and alone for a long time academic center in the United States to study history and culture of Ukraine. But later, many American universities followed this tradition, opening Ukrainian courses and scholarships in Ukrainian studies. I want to seeCrimean Tatar studies among them in honor of the people of Crimea who were enslaved by Russia and are currently facing repression there,” the First Lady emphasized. 

Olena Zelenska also noted that now it is not only about knowing Ukrainian scientists or cultural figures, but also about understanding Ukraine, and therefore better understanding that we have the truth on our side.

The event occurred as part of the official visit of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to the United States. It took place concurrently with the 75th NATO Summit.
