Today, Permanent Representative Tamila Tasheva met with Princess of Buganda Nakabiri Amooti Binaisa, who is visiting Kyiv to develop Ukrainian-African relations. Mariia Tomak, Head of the Crimea Platform’s Support Service, joined the meeting.

Permanent Representative Tamila Tasheva briefed Her Royal Highness on the cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity in Ukraine, the importance of de-occupation of the Crimean Peninsula, emphasizing that Crimea is the only homeland of the Indigenous People of Ukraine–Crimean Tatars, Krymchaks and Karaites. Tamila Tasheva stressed that the international community should not force Ukraine to make territorial concessions:

“De-occupation of the Crimean Peninsula is the only way to ensure the survival of the Crimean Tatar people. Territorial concessions will not help achieve peace in Ukraine, because peace is not only the return of territories, but the preservation and protection of people’s lives, their rights and freedoms.”

During the meeting, Princess Nakabiri Amooti Binaisa, who visited Kharkiv and Poltava on a humanitarian mission, expressed interest in the problem of illegal transportation of children from the temporarily occupied territories to the territory of the Russian Federation. The Permanent Representative said that the Russian invaders used temporarily occupied Crimea as a hub for the illegal transportation of Ukrainian citizens, including children, to the territory of the Russian Federation and also noted that Russians illegally adopt children from Ukraine.

The Permanent Representative invited Her Royal Highness Princess Nakabiri Amooti Binaisa to participate in the Crimea Global Conference and presented her with a kerchief with Crimean Tatar ornament.
