Today, the Permanent Representative Tamila Tasheva held a meeting with Maris Andzans, Director of the Center for Geopolitical Studies, during a working trip to Riga (Republic of Latvia). Mr. Andzans is the author of over 100 publications, primarily on security and defense issues in the Baltic States, as well as Central Asia, transport, and digital policies. He has a decade of experience in Latvian public administration, having worked in positions related to the coordination of EU and NATO matters, transport and communication security, civil-military cooperation, aviation, and electronic communications.
The parties discussed the situation in occupied Crimea and the importance of studying the true history of the peninsula. In this context, the Permanent Representative mentioned the Global Coalition for Ukrainian Studies, which was announced by the First Lady, Olena Zelenska, at a conference in Washington. Its goal is to unite initiatives and programs worldwide and promote the development of Ukrainian studies, including Crimean Tatar studies, to ensure the accurate and professional study of Ukraine’s history and culture.
Additionally, Tamila Tasheva emphasized the resistance movement against the occupation and Ukraine’s successes in the Black Sea. She also highlighted the importance of supporting the Peace Formula and the Victory Plan, which are crucial for achieving a just peace.
