Today, on February 24, 2025, marking the third year of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution in support of Ukraine.
The resolution, initiated by Ukraine, calls for an immediate de-escalation, cessation of hostilities, and full restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity. A significant provision of the document also condemns the involvement of North Korean military formations in the war on Russia’s side.
“Sometimes, fighting for the truth is not easy. But in the end, it is the truth that shapes history. We appreciate each of the 93 UN member states that supported our resolution, all of its truthful provisions, and its clear aspiration to achieve a just and lasting peace,” said Minister for Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha.
The document also reaffirms Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, including the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. 93 countries supported the resolution, with 18 voting against and 65 abstaining.
Ukraine is grateful to its European partners for their effective diplomatic efforts in achieving this result. Today’s vote demonstrated the new strength of Europe and all our like-minded nations that genuinely respect international law and the UN Charter.
