Today, May 16, is the birthday of political prisoner, representative of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people Alim Sufianov.
Since the beginning of the temporary occupation of Crimea, Alim has taken an active public position and attended court hearings in politically motivated cases against Crimeans.
On July 7, 2020, he was arrested in the village of Zaliznychne, Bakhchisarai district, during mass searches by the occupation special services in a number of districts of Crimea. The occupiers accused the activist of “terrorist activities”. In political persecutions, Russia uses the labels of terrorists, extremists, spies and saboteurs to make the world community believe that Russia is allegedly fighting terrorists in Crimea.
Before his arrest, Alim worked as a hairdresser. He was a good painter and singer, and was one of the organizers of Muslim holidays.
33-year-old Alim Sufianov has a disability. His wife and minor child are waiting for him at home.
Today, on Alim’s birthday, we urge you to join our initiative “Letters to a Free Crimea” and write to him, as well as to other prisoners of the Kremlin. We will pass on your letters to them.
