The draft Law of Ukraine “On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on recognition of educational results of persons residing in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine” (Reg. No. 9591) was registered in the Verkhovna Rada.
This draft law was prepared by the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and members of the Ukrainian Parliament, in particular, members of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science and Innovation.
The draft law provides for a mechanism of certification for the recognition of educational results for persons who received their education in the occupied territories. This enables residents of such territories to continue their education in Ukrainian educational institutions or obtain a certain educational qualification level. The list of educational institutions that will conduct such certification will be determined by the Government, as well as the list of specialities (professions) for which certification is not allowed.
The adoption of this draft law will be an important step towards protecting one of the most fundamental human rights – the right to education – and will also facilitate the reintegration of residents of the temporarily occupied territories into the educational space of Ukraine.
We would like to express our gratitude to the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Education, Science and Innovations for supporting the initiative of the Mission to develop the draft law and look forward to its prompt consideration by the Parliament.
