On May 11, another illegal search in the houses of local Muslims took place in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol carried out by the occupation administration.
As a result, Uzbek citizen Ayub (Nabi) Rakhimov was killed and several people were illegally detained.
The Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea condemns regular illegal searches, the murder of Uzbek citizen Ayub (Nabi) Rakhimov and the detention of Crimean Tatar Seidamet Gafarov by Russian security forces in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
The actions of the occupation administration in the form of murder and physical violence are aimed at continuing to intimidate and persecute individuals for their political position or the religion they profess. Russia is once again committing a crime, and the real goal of the occupier is to destroy any manifestations of resistance and solidarity in Crimea.
The Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol has already initiated criminal proceedings on the basis of part 2 of article 162 and part 2 of article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of privacy of domicile) and (unlawful detention).
The pre-trial investigation will be carried out by the GUNP in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
The Mission calls on the occupation administration to refrain from committing systemic human rights violations in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol and release all illegally detained persons. The recorded cases of illegal political persecution carried out by the occupation administrations will certainly be used in the work at the national and international levels in order to increase the political and diplomatic pressure on the Russian Federation.
