On 4 July 2019 the Permanent Representative of President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Anton Korynevych attended the International Liberal Summer Camp “Liberty Camp”. The camp brought together young people from around Ukraine and Europe for sharing experience and exchanging information on word’s liberation struggle, practices of nonviolent resistance and UN instruments on human rights and indigenous’ rights.
The Permanent Representative together with the other interlocutors discussed the Crimean Declaration, Budapest Memorandum and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights including the issues concerning political detainers, arrested sailors, returning the Russian delegation to PACE, collaboration with Mejlis of Crimean Tartar People and other Crimean Tartar organizations including the adoption of the Law of Ukraine on the indigenous peoples.
Anton Korynevych noted that Crimean Tartars were the indigenous people of Ukraine and legal provisions applicable in this area and human rights protection in the occupied Crimea should become a priority for the Mission.
The Permanent Representative has also told the young people about the mandate of the Mission and its implementation, stressing that the analytical activity and development of Strategy on de-occupation and reintegration of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea are an important focus of the Mission’s activity.
