On March, 27 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC Borys Babin and the Chief Consultant of the Mission Valeria Pakhomova held a briefing with the Cultural Attaché of the British Council Simon Williams and the Director of Educational Programs of the British Council Ludmyla Tatsenko. During the briefing it was highlighted the issues of support and funding of educational branch, establishing the relationship among the displaced universities of Ukraine and the Great Britain’s ones, implementation of educational programs and courses for IDPs from Crimea and the urgent challenges appeared in the development of education and science. It was stressed the importance of Taurian National University named after Vernadsky as a central academic school on Crimean subject matter for the Crimean students.
Borys Babin informed about the current activity of the Mission pointing out the problem of lack of proper information about the activity of the Higher Educational Establishments to the youth from TOT of Ukraine in Crimea and the opportunities to enter the Higher Educational Establishments in the mainland of Ukraine. The academic support of the Higher Educational Establishments was discussed, where the significant number of IDPs from Crimea studied, especially the Higher Educational Establishments of Kherson region. It was also told about the need to enlarge the number of fundamental of scientific, graduate works, researches, scientific conferences on Crimean subject matter; to intensify the academic exchange of students and teachers, who are IDPs from Crimea, between the Higher Educational Establishments of Ukraine and Great Britain.
The representatives of the British Council told about the current exchange programs for the displaced Higher Educational Establishments, the Leadership Development Programme for young scientists, students and teachers to be implemented by the British Council support. The sides discussed the possibility to implement such a programmes within Kherson region as for the Higher Educational Establishments so for schools where the IDPs from Crimea studied.
