The 08th day of May, 1945 on the European continent a long-awaited peace was established. The Ukrainian people made a colossal contribution to the victory over Nazism in the Second World War, giving millions of their nation’s lives for peace.
The crucial and fierce battles are connected with Ukraine: 29 out of 76 operations of the Second World War took place on the territory of Ukraine. The Ukrainians fought in the Red Army, in partisan formations, in the ranks of resistance of European countries, as part of the Canadian, American, Australian, British and other armies.
Recognition of the significant contribution of the Ukrainian people to the victory over Nazism in World War II is the participation of Ukraine in the foundation of the United Nations in 1945.
Honoring the memory of the victims of the Second World War, we once again stress – never again, and realize the consequences of the tragic events that reach the
global scale.
