At the Human Rights Forum themed “Overcoming conflicts: a new parliamentary agenda”, the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea Anton Korynevych emphasized the need to harmonize the Criminal law with the rule of the International Law, stressed on the importance of the transitional justice in overcoming the armed conflict, including the ratifying the Rome Statue of the International Criminal Court. He called on the interlocutors and People’s Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to support the Draft Law 0892 on international crimes
The Human Rights Forum, held by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on human rights, de-occupation and reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories of Donerts, Lugansk regions and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol City, national minorities and interethnic relations together with the human rights nongovernmental organizations, engaged in protection of the victims of the conflict, started working on 16 October.
The interlocutors discussed the issues the IDPs and those who reside under the temporarily occupation face. In addition, they talked about the importance of transitional justice for overcoming the armed conflict and need of ratification of the Rome Statue of the International Criminal Court including harmonization of the national law and international humanitarian law for justice and bringing to justice those guilty of serious crimes in the temporarily occupied territories.
