On 4 October 2018 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC Borys Babin and the Head of the Department of International Connections Yevhen Samukha participated in the meeting of Coordination Council on the Development of Legislative Proposals for the Implementation of Transitional Justice, established by the initiative of the Human Rights Commissioner of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in order to protect the victims of the Russian armed aggression in Ukraine.
The meeting was headed by the Representative of the Human Rights Parliament Commissioner on partnership with the civil society institutions Andriy Mamalyga with the participation of the People’s Deputies, authorities of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, Ministry of the Temporarily Occupied Territories and IDPs of Ukraine and representatives of the range Human Rights civil organizations.
During the discussion of the draft law of Ukraine “On the Principles of the State Policy for Protection of Human Rights to Overcome the Consequences of the Armed Conflict”. Borys Babin drew attention to the concerns of the Mission to the draft document required considerable revision.
The members of the Coordination Council took the remarks into account and decided to establish the working groups within the Council on the direction of criminal justice in order to bring the traitors and collaborators to justice, reparation for victims of Russian aggression, implementation of institutional reforms during the period of de-occupation and establishment of national remembrance in the liberated territories as well as involvement of the experts, including foreign ones into the elaboration of the mentioned draft Law.
