On April, 13 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC Borys Babin and the Chief Consultant of the Department of the Department on Re-integration and De-occupation of the ARC took part in the international scientific conference: “Crimean Tatars: Past and Future”. The event was organized to commemorate the 95th anniversary of Melitopol State Pedagogical University and the 25th anniversary of the Crimean Tatar organization “Azat” in Melitopol. The participants of the Round Table were the leadership and scientists of the University, the Deputy Head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People Ilmy Umerov, the members of Mejlis, experts and civil activists.

In the framework of the visit to Melitopol the Permanent Representative held a working meeting with the Melitopol Mayor to discuss the issue of Crimean IDPs’ rights protection in Melitopol and the prospects of passports issuing for the Crimean residents in the local Administrative Service Center. Moreover, the Permanent Representative visited National Cultural Community of the Crimean Karaims “Kale” where it was discussed the development of this Indigenous People of Ukraine in the mainland of Ukraine and harassment is currently faced by the Karaims in Crimea now.
