On August 13, 2018 the Head of the Department of International Connections of the Mission Yevgen Samuha and the Chief Consultant Valeria Pahomova attended the press-conference of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine “Filing a new Interstate Complaint of Ukraine against Russia to European Court of Human Rights”. The speakers of the press-conference were the Minister of Justice of Ukraine Pavlo Petrenko, the Deputy Minister – Government Commissioner for European Court of Human Rights Ivan Lishchyna, lawyer of the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union Daria Sviridova and the coordinator of the Association of the Relatives of the Kremlin’s Political Prisoners Ihor Kotelyanets, civic and media representatives.
The press-conference made public the filing a new interstate complaint against the Russia to European Court of Human Rights over the political prisoners illegally detained by Russia. The interstate complaint contains more than 70 cases of political prisoners’ rights violations with the materials on their persecution in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine in Crimea and in the RF enclosed.
Minister of Justice of Ukraine announced that a new interstate complaint filed to European Court of Human Rights contains compelling evidence that Russia had violated the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. The Mission of the President of Ukraine in ARC will continue our help to the political prisoners and their relatives on their rights to be exercised, in particular – on accumulation of evidentiary base under the interinstitutional cooperation to use it in the international procedures against the state-aggressor.
