We invite you to join the Letters to Free Crimea initiative during the pre-Christmas distribution of the Bethlehem Peace Light on December 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Point of Invincibility on the second floor of Kyiv Central Railway Station, where the Workshop of Good Deeds will be operating.
The Bethlehem Peace Light is an annual international scouting initiative conducted on the eve of Christmas. Its purpose is to deliver a symbolic light from the birthplace of Jesus Christ to those in need, representing good deeds and support.
One way to support Crimean political prisoners and remind them that society and the authorities remember them is by writing a letter. Such letters also signal to prison administrations that the prisoner is under public attention, and any attempt to harm or deprive them of life will become widely known.
According to the Representation, Russia is currently illegally detaining 218 Crimean political prisoners, including 132 Crimean Tatars. Many of these prisoners suffer from serious illnesses and do not receive adequate medical care, not to mention the deliberate torture inflicted on them.
Details and instructions on writing letters can be obtained directly at the location or via the link in the profile @ppu.gov.ua.
