On 22 November 2018 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC Borys Babin met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine Roman Waschuk. The Permanent Representative commended for the unswerving support of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine by Canada and presented the status of the Mission as the all-state body authorized to the promotion of the fundamental rights of the IDPs and the citizens of Ukraine, residing in the in the TOT of Ukraine in Crimea, in the whole territory of Ukraine. He outlined the main directions of work and primary tasks of the Mission in the near future.
Borys Babin pointed the need for efficiency improvement of the national sanctions, promotion of the sanctions in the Western countries concerning the persons, involved into the illegal politically motivated persecution of the citizens of Ukraine. The Permanent Representative outlined the practical situations of sanctions’ implementation and the cause of court proceedings involving the Mission, initiated by the residents of the state-aggressor in Ukraine. In addition, the ways for further cooperation and the issues of the efficient sanctions’ policy realization were discussed significantly. Besides, the Permanent Representative informed about the current legislative work and the efforts, undertaken by the Mission to establish and equip the administrative service centers in the settlements of Kherson region, adjacent to Crimea. There was also expressed the need to involve the international technical assistance for the solution of the topical issues. As the result of the meeting, the parties have agreed the framework for future collaboration.
