On May 31st, 2017 in Kherson the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in Crimea Natalia Popovych met with the head of the group of observers of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe of the special monitoring mission in Ukraine Peter Chilvers.
During the meeting the parties discussed the situation of the violation of rights and freedoms of the residents on the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, and non-fulfilment of the interim decision of the International Court of Justice in the case “Ukraine against Russia” by the country that temporarily occupies Crimea.
The parties paid special attention to the issues of implementation of the state policy concerning internally displaced persons and the rights of citizens of Ukraine who live on the temporarily occupied territory to visa-free trips to the EU countries since June 11th, 2017.
In particular Natalia Popovych introduced to Peter Chilvers monitoring results of the Representative Office concerning the issue of obtaining by the residents of the Crimean peninsula Ukrainian education by distance learning.
The Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea stressed that even under the temporary occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, Ukraine holds the door open to the civilized world for compatriots in Crimea.
