On May 16th, 2017 in Kherson the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in Crimea Natalia Popovych met with the National specialists of the UN Monitoring Mission for Human Rights in Ukraine Andrii Andrusov, Mark Bozhanik, Vitalii Hilko.
During the meeting the parties fully discussed the situation of human rights violations on the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, which had downtrends.
In particular, the point of issue was about ignoring by the occupant the execution of intermediate decision of the International Court of Justice concerning the case “Ukraine against Russia”.
Moreover, in the issue of protecting rights and freedoms of the residents of Crimea Natalia Popovych stressed the importance of the resolution accepted by the Committee of Ministers of the European Council on the situation in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol (Ukraine), which confirms the inevitability of responsibility of the Russian Federation.
Also during the meeting, the parties paid attention to the issues of social adaptation of internally displaced persons. National human rights experts got acquainted with the latest monitoring results of the Representative Office concerning execution and realization of rights and freedoms of the citizens that moved from the temporarily occupied territory to the mainland Ukraine.
The Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic Crimea informed experts of the UN Mission, that today Ukrainian Parliament approved the corresponding amendments that will significantly increase the level of enforcement of rights to obtaining higher education for persons whose place of residence is temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.
