The Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for Children’s Rights Mykola Kuleba held a working meeting with the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Anton Korynevych, the Deputy Prosecutor of the AR of Crimea Anatoliy Kotsura and the prosecutors’ of the Crimean Prosecutor’s Office.
During a meeting, the matters of concern in respect for the protection of the children’s rights were discussed. Particularly, these included obtaining passport of the citizen of Ukraine, crossing the administrative boundary line by the orphans, children, deprived of parental care and who have no guardian or tutor, nominated by the authorities of Ukraine, including the representation of the interests of the children, residing in the AR of Crimea in Ukrainian courts.
“There are more than 450 thousands of our children left to live in the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. And now a number of procedural issues regarding the realization of these children’s constitutional rights remain unresolved. Unfortunately, the Ministry of Social Policy as an executive body, which is responsible for the children’s rights, ignores the problem of children, residing in the temporarily occupied territories. I think, with the forming of a new Government we should start resolving them”, Mykola Kuleba pointed out.
The Commissioner for Children’s rights is going to initiate the creation of a new working group before the new Cabinet of Ministers, which would include the representatives of Ministry of Social Policy, Ministry of Justice, the State Border Guard Service, civic organizations, working for the defense of the people’s rights, residing in the AR of Crimea to comprehensively address the issues of children in the occupied territories.
