On 16 December 2025, the occupying administration in temporarily occupied Crimea announced a further expansion of the list of property it plans to illegally “nationalize” from Ukrainian citizens and Ukrainian companies. According to the occupiers, the updated list includes assets of 84 additional individuals and legal entities, cynically labeled as “hostile to Russia” and allegedly “engaging in unfriendly actions”—in reality, punishing people for their anti-war stance and support of Ukraine. Among those mentioned by the occupiers is Ukrainian boxer and Simferopol native Oleksandr Usyk; the announcement was shared by the so-called Speaker of the Parliament of Crimea on his social media/Telegram channels.
Since the beginning of the temporary occupation, the Russian Federation’s occupying administration in the so-called Republic of Crimea has “nationalized” property of at least 674 individuals and legal entities, encompassing several thousand real estate objects on the peninsula; separately, in Sevastopol, property of at least 77 individuals and legal entities has been affected.
Ukraine consistently emphasizes that any decisions by the occupation authorities regarding so-called nationalization are legally null and void, and the rights of the owners will be restored after de-occupation. These practices are tools of pressure and repression, as well as a method of looting Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
