The occupation forces took away to the pre-trial detention center the civilian journalist of Crimean Solidarity Amet Suleymanov, who was under “house arrest” due to a heart condition. Amet’s wife Lilya Suleymanova (Lyumanova) reported the illegal detention.
“They said that a document with a stamp had come, that the sentence had entered into force. I asked if we could have at least 10 minutes, we are fasting in the month of Ramadan, we haven’t eaten all day. They refused. Amet only managed to perform evening prayers and get dressed,” – the political prisoner’s wife said.
The Russian court unlawfully sentenced Amet to 12 years of imprisonment in a strict regime colony, despite his severe heart disease and the need to replace his heart valve. The measure of restraint in the form of house arrest, imposed by the occupation court before that, was the only case in the practice of criminal cases of Crimean Muslims – Mr. Suleymanov was under “house arrest” all the time while the trial was ongoing.
The criminal “sentence” could be fatal for Amet, as the occupiers do not provide the illegally imprisoned with proper medical care. Let us remind you that due to inhuman conditions of detention in places of detention and the occupiers’ refusal to provide illegally imprisoned persons with the necessary medical care, 2 political prisoners – Jamil Gafarov and Konstantin Shiring – have already died. There are still dozens of elderly people and those with severe health problems in such conditions – their lives are also under serious threat.
