On 26th of September, 2018 the Chief Consultants of the Departments of the Mission Valeria Pakhomova and Ruslan Seidametov participated in the public discussion, devoted to the celebration of the 60th anniversary of Friedrich Naumann Stiftung on theme: “It’s Worth Fighting for Freedom. Today More than Ever”.
The participants of the discussion were the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine, Mr. Ernst Wolfgang Reichel, the Project Manager in Ukraine and Belarus Beate Apelt, member of the Advisory Board of the Project Luit Gosser-Schnarrenberg, Chairmen of the Commission for Journalist Ethics, the chief editor of the Public radio Andrew Kulikov, the head of the Ukrainian Center of International PEN-club, the writer Mykola Ryabchuk, Board Chairman of the Center for civil Liberties Olexandra Matviychuk, journalists and representatives of civil organizations.
The core issue for discussion was seeking the ways of identifying and prevention of the false news dissimilation and active Russian propaganda, spread in Ukraine. At the same time, the illicit visits to the temporarily occupied Crimea by German politicians and establishment of the US Global Magnitsky Act analogue in Germany were highlighted at the meeting.
