The Permanent Representative Tamila Tasheva met with journalists from Latin America, including Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Spain, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. Together with Ms Tasheva, the guests were greeted by the Head of the Crimean Platform’s Support Service, Mariia Tomak.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Permanent Representative stressed the importance of strengthening the dialogue with the countries of the Global South in order to create a realistic picture of Crimea in these countries and to debunk Russian myths and narratives. She also underlined that any compromise on the territorial integrity of Ukraine is unacceptable for Ukraine, which is the position of both the President of Ukraine and Ukrainian society.
During the conversation, Ms Tasheva also spoke about the history of the deportation of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people and the challenges faced by Crimean Tatars after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, in particular, she stressed the political persecution on ethnic grounds: “The Crimean Tatars believe that only with Ukraine can they survive and be preserved. Therefore, for Ukraine, for the President, the restoration of territorial integrity is not only about territories, it is about people.”
