Today, on 13 November 2019, a briefing of the updated team of the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea took place in the Office of President of Ukraine.
During the briefing, the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea Anton Korynevych emphasized the priorities of the Mission. “If we want to emphasize our strategy, I would stress on legislative work. It goes in line with our competences, determined by the Law of Ukraine on the Mission and relevant Presidential Decree. I mean, we will really try to become the institution, elaborating the drafts law necessary for Crimea and Crimeans. We have already had some developments and we will try to make them public. Clearly, we will work on the draft laws on human rights protection of the Crimeans, avoiding of so-called discriminatory provisions against Crimeans.
Anton Korynevych noted that the Mission was a member of some working groups on development of the relevant draft laws, including the issue of no residency.
The informational policy and communication with the citizens, residing in the temporarily occupied territory, the Permanent Representative determined as the second priority. “It is really important to highlight theme of Crimea through national media and to be available in the temporarily occupied territory”.
“There is one more important aspect that we, in fact, understand that elder citizens know and remember Ukraine and they have connections with Ukraine. Now it is sixth year of occupation and we realize that there are children in Crimea which might not know Ukraine and what is parent state”.
The third priority is a protection of the Crimeans’ rights, development of the legislative changes regarding the status of the Crimean Tartar People with the amending the Constitution of Ukraine. The Mission will continue to monitor the situation with the human rights in the temporarily occupied Crimea and collaborate with the law enforcement agencies on Crimea, which legalize their mandates in mainland Ukraine regarding proper documentation and investigation of the cases of human rights violation in the temporarily occupied territory.
