On 23 April, Permanent Representative Olha Kuryshko presented a state award of Ukraine to Afize Emiramzaieva, a teacher at the Private Institution “Crimean Tatar Lyceum ‘Birlik School'”, on behalf of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
In accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 289/2026 of 1 April 2026, Afize Emiramzaieva was awarded the honorary title of “Honoured Teacher of Ukraine”.
Afize Emiramzaieva teaches the Crimean Tatar language and literature. She works on preserving and developing the native language of the Indigenous people of Ukraine and contributes to the formation of a modern Crimean Tatar educational environment.
Her work holds special significance under the conditions of the temporary occupation of Crimea, as Russia systematically displaces the Crimean Tatar language from the public space of the peninsula.
The awarding of Afize Emiramzaieva is a recognition of the work of educators who, through education, preserve the identity, culture, and historical memory of the Crimean Tatar people.
