On 1 December 2018 the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC Borys Babin participated in the ceremony of awarding the Ukrainian film director Oleg Sentsov the Pro Dignitate Humana (For Human Dignity) from Polish Foreign Ministry. Oleg Sentsov is still imprisoned by fabricated charges on preparing alleged terrorist acts in the occupied Crimea.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Jacek Czaputowicz, handed the award to Sentsov’s cousin Natalia Kaplan, assured of the solidarity of Polish and Ukrainians and expressed his confidence that Oleg Sentsov soon would be with us.
The Ambassador of Poland to Ukraine Jan Peklo pointed out that laureates of this award become those who demonstrate their steadfast position in Human Rights protecting and respect for Human Dignity. Awarding Oleg Sentsov with the award For Human Dignity is the acknowledgment his achievements in the field of human rights, the uncompromising protection of persecuted people and those who have been repressed.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin and the Permanent Representative Borys Babin thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland and the Polish diplomats for the support of Ukrainian political prisoners on behalf of Oleg Sentsov, for their attention to the struggle of Ukraine against the aggressor and the firm position in non-recognition of the attempt of Crimea annexation at the international level.
