Crimean Tatar activists, illegally convicted in the case of Crimean Muslims, Tofik Abdulgaziyev and Izzet Abdullayev, were transferred to Russian prisons. In particular, Tofik Abdulgaziyev was transported to Verkhniy Uralsk, Chelyabinsk region, and placed in a special quarantine unit. The political prisoner’s whereabouts and health condition were not known for a month, until his wife received the news of his transfer.
Tofik Abdulgaziyev was sentenced in 2022 to 12 years in a maximum security colony with the first 5 years in prison. Prior to his arrest, he participated in organizing events for children of Crimean political prisoners, was an activist of Crimean Solidarity and supported illegally convicted political prisoners during “trials”.
The same situation befell Izzet Abdullayev, a civil society activist and falsely accused of terrorist activities. On July 15, he was transferred to a prison in Dimitrovgrad, Ulyanovsk region, and placed under quarantine. He himself informed his wife, Guzela Abdullayeva, about this on the day he was taken from the Novocherkassk detention center.
The Russian Federation does not stop the criminal practice of illegally transferring Ukrainian citizens to its territory, grossly violating the Geneva Conventions and norms on the humane treatment of civilians in time of war.
The occupier must be held accountable for all its illegal actions, which is impossible without a prompt response and increased pressure on Russia by the international community, as well as without the complete liberation of the Crimean peninsula!
