Today, the occupation court has completed consideration of the appeal against the verdict in the falsified case of Nariman Dzhelal and the Akhtemov brothers. The occupation court left the terms of imprisonment unchanged, but toughened the verdict of the first instance by ordering that the illegally convicted persons be held in prison for the first three years and in a strict regime colony for the following three years. In addition, all the defense’s motions to exclude unfounded evidence were rejected.
According to the preliminary “verdict”, Nariman Dzhelial was sentenced to 17 years in prison in a strict regime colony, Asan Akhtemov was sentenced to 15 years, and Aziz Akhtemov – to 13 years in a strict regime colony. They were also ordered to pay fines – 700 thousand rubles to Dzhelal and half a million to the Akhtemov brothers.
As a reminder, Nariman Dzhelial was detained by the occupiers after participating in the Inaugural Summit of the Crimean Platform in 2021.
We call on the international community to pay attention to the continuation of illegal sentences for Ukrainian citizens. The only way to ensure respect for human rights in Crimea is to deoccupy the peninsula as soon as possible!
