Permanent Representative Tamila Tasheva attended the opening of the exhibition of contemporary art “Under the Surface”. The exhibition features the works of Lera Litvinova, Leonora Yanko and Arthur Drone with the involvement of Scottish composer Michael Begg.

The theme of the exhibition is the Black and Azov Seas, which are inextricably linked to the temporarily occupied Crimea in the context of culture, economy, history, and especially the security of the entire region. The Black and Azov Seas are also inextricably linked to the history of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people.

Tamila Tasheva thanked the Ambassadors of Japan and Slovenia for their attention to the topic of occupied Crimea and their countries’ participation in the Crimean Platform. She recalled the beginning of the war in 2014 and drew attention to the environmental damage caused by the occupation and militarization.

“The fact that Russia has forcibly occupied the fundamentally important Azov-Black Sea region destabilizes security throughout the democratic world, provokes a food crisis and secures the military interests of the aggressor, which has provoked numerous conflicts and unleashed bloody wars over the past 30 years. The terrorist country is trying to use food as a weapon again, blocking the export of Ukrainian grain and stealing it. It is from the Azov and Black Seas that most enemy missiles are fired at Ukrainian cities. All these war crimes are the result of Russia’s presence in the Azov and Black Sea region. The de-occupation of Crimea should be the goal of the entire international community, as this is the only way to ensure the peaceful existence of the world,” the Permanent Representative said.

We also invite everyone to visit the exhibition “Under the Surface”, which will last until April 16 at the Museum of History of Kyiv.

Ташева подякувала присутнім Послам Японії та Словенії за увагу до теми окупованого Криму й участь їхніх країн у Кримській платформі. Вона нагадала про початок війни в 2014 та звернула увагу на шкоду екології, спричинену окупацією та мілітаризацією.

“Те, що росія силоміць зайняла принципово важливий Азово-Чорноморський регіон, дестабілізує безпеку в усьому демократичному світі, провокує продовольчу кризу та забезпечує військові інтереси агресора, який за останні 30 років спровокував численні конфлікти та розв’язав криваві війни. Країна-терористка намагається знову використовувати їжу як зброю, блокуючи експорт українського зерна та розкрадаючи його. Саме з акваторій Азовського та Чорного морів летить більшість ворожих ракет по українських містах. Усі ці воєнні злочини — наслідок присутності росії в Азово-Чорноморському регіоні. Деокупація Криму має стати метою всієї міжнародної спільноти, адже лише це забезпечить подальше мирне існування світу”, — зазначила Постійна Представниця.
