Today, Permanent Representative Tamila Tasheva met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Matsuda Kuninori, and Third Secretary of the Embassy Ms. Morimoto Ayumi. The meeting was also attended by Maria Tomak, Head of the Crimea Platform Support Service.

The Ambassador of Japan expressed his concern about the current situation on the temporarily occupied peninsula, as well as about the future economic recovery of Crimea.
The Permanent Representative briefed Matsuda Kuninori on the current situation in occupied Crimea. In particular, the meeting addressed the issues of the successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Black Sea region and the human rights situation, the illegal mobilization of Crimean residents, in particular, representatives of indigenous peoples, and the political persecution of Ukrainian citizens by the Russian Federation. They also emphasized the significant changes in the economic situation on the peninsula due to the active colonization and militarization of Crimea by the Russians.
The preparations for reintegrating the peninsula are crucial for Ukraine. This includes addressing the legacy of colonization and holding accountable those involved in international crimes and crimes against the state.
Tamila Tasheva also discussed the upcoming Summits of the Crimea Platform and the potential expansion of Ukrainian studies in Japanese universities.
