Permanent Representative Tamila Tasheva participated in the panel discussion “Successful Development of the Crimean Tatar People in Ukraine,” dedicated to the launch of lessons on the Crimean Tatar language and literature for 5th-6th grades on the All-Ukrainian Online School platform.

The event was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, public figures, educators, and experts, including Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitalization Dmytro Zavhorodnii; Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Refat Chubarov; journalist Mustafa Ametov; teachers Hulnaz Adzhyheldiieva and Elvina Khalilova; and philologists Seyit-Dzhelil Abibulla and Sabriie Slaston.

In her speech, Tamila Tasheva emphasized the importance of these courses for preserving and popularizing the Crimean Tatar language. The Permanent Representative mentioned that the launch of this project was made possible by the Strategy for the Development of the Crimean Tatar Language for 2022-2032, which was initiated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“This course is really important because not only representatives of the Indigenous People should know and learn the Crimean Tatar language. Thanks to this course, it is possible to expand the circle of those who use the Crimean Tatar language,” the Permanent Representative said.
Tamila Tasheva also noted that the National Commission on the Crimean Tatar Language is currently working at the level of the Cabinet of Ministers, where active efforts are underway to create language standards, as well as to preserve and develop the Crimean Tatar language with the involvement of teachers and representatives of academia.
“As the Ukrainian poet Serhii Zhadan wrote, ‘A language disappears when it is not spoken about love.’ I hope that the children who will learn through this course will someday begin to speak the Crimean Tatar language about love for their parents, their homeland, and their loved ones. This way, we will be able to say that it lives and develops,” the Permanent Representative emphasized.
“Crimean Tatar Language and Literature” is an integrated course on the Crimean Tatar language and literature for 5th and 6th grades, developed with the participation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The course contains 140 lessons exploring the Crimean Tatars’ traditions, customs, and literature. Each lesson enhances students’ knowledge of the unique nature of Crimea and includes readings of poems and works about the peninsula.
